자연과 회화의 관계를 탐구하며, 한국화의 전통적 미학과 장자의 ’무위(無爲)‘ 철학이 어우러진 작업을 이어가고 있다.
달은 변화와 순환의 상징으로, 시간과 감정의 자연스러운 흐름을 담아내는 매개체가 된다. 달을 그리는 행위는 강요된 결과물이 아니라, 반복적인 과정 속에서 내면과 연결되는 여정이다.

한국화의 여백의 미를 품은 전통적 구성에서 영감을 받아, 달의 고요한 존재와 자연, 삶, 사물 간의 조화를 담아내고자 한다.
달을 표현하기 위해 선을 겹겹이 쌓는 작업은 형태와 의미의 변화를 자연스럽게 받아들이며, 창작 과정 그 자체를 ’무위‘의 철학에 맡긴다.

이 시리즈는 전통 미학의 재해석이자 메타 회화적 실험으로, 명상적인 과정을 통해 자연과 인간, 예술 창조의 관계를 성찰하며 한국적 정서와 몽환적인 서정을 담아내고 있다.

’The Heart of the Moon Series‘ Artist Statement

This series explores the relationship between nature and painting, blending the traditional aesthetics of Korean art with Zhuangzi’s philosophy of wu wei (non-action).
The moon serves as a symbol of transformation and cyclical flow, encapsulating the natural passage of time and emotions. Painting the moon is not about achieving a fixed result; it is a meditative, repetitive process that fosters a deeper connection to the inner self.

Inspired by the Korean aesthetic of yohak (the beauty of empty space), the compositions emphasize harmony between the quiet presence of the moon, nature, life, and objects. The layered lines used to depict the moon embrace transformation and fluidity, allowing the creative process to unfold naturally, aligned with the principles of wu wei.

This series reinterprets traditional aesthetics through metapainting, offering a contemplative exploration of the interconnectedness of nature, humanity, and artistic creation. It seeks to capture a uniquely Korean sentiment imbued with a dreamlike, poetic resonance.
