이번 전시는 송파지역의 예술생태계 발굴과 활성화 사업의 일환으로 기획되었다. 예술진흥, 미술연구·출판 등 지역 문화 발전에 기여하고 있는 한올재단과 작품 교류전시를 개최하여 지역문화 자원을 발굴하고 가치를 함께하고자 한다. 전시되는 작품은 한국미술계에 큰 업적을 남긴 김흥수(1919–2014)의 작품으로 재단이 소장하고 있는 작품 중 하모니즘(harmonism)에 주목하며, 주요 작품과 관련 자료를 망라하여 그의 예술세계를 한 자리에서 볼 수 있도록 하였다. 김흥수 (1919–2014)는 1977년 워싱턴에서 ‘하모니즘(Harmonism)’을 선언하며, 한국 근현대 미술계에서 독자적 화풍을 구축하였다. 구상과 추상, 동양과 서양, 인간과 자연의 경계를 잇는 독자적인 예술세계를 완성하였다. 전시에 소개된 작품은 하모니즘 안에서도 다양한 색깔을 보여준다. 하모니즘은 단순한 미술의 기법이 아니라, 화합을 가치로 삼은 철학적 선언으로 김흥수의 예술에 대한 인생관이기도 하다. 이번 회고전을 통해 방대하고 끊임없는 창작활동과 세태에 타협하거나 유행에 휩쓸리지 않고 오직 자신만의 길을 걸어온 그의 예술적 사명을 함께 느낄 수 있기를 바란다. This exhibition is part of an initiative to discover and vitalize the art ecosystem in the Songpa area, co-organized with the Hanul Foundation, which supports local culture through art promotion and publications. The core purpose is to unearth regional resources and share values through an exchange of works. The exhibition features the works of Kim sou (1919-2014), a pivotal figure in Korean modern art, focusing specifically on his unique concept of Harmonism. By gathering his major works and related materials, the exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the artistic world built upon this philosophical declaration. Kim sou first proclaimed ’Harmonism‘ in 1977, developing an original style that bridged traditional boundaries—such as figuration and abstraction, or Eastern and Western art—to create a complete, singular vision. Harmonism is more than a mere artistic technique; it is a philosophical view on life and art that champions the value of harmony. Through this retrospective, we invite you to experience the vast and ceaseless creativity of an artist who remained true to his own path, never conforming to trends or fads, thereby fulfilling his profound artistic mission.
