Tune 시리즈는 자유로운 음률처럼 흘러가는 인생을 표현합니다. 검은 실은 자유로운 인생의 음률을 표현하며, 복합적인 감정을 모두 담기에 모든색을 섞은 검은색으로 표현하였습니다. 하나의 선으로 이어진 표현은 인생은 쉬어갈 수는 있어도 멈추거나 건너뛸 수 없는 연결된 하나의 이야기임을 의미합니다. 또한, 입체적인 실(자수)은 인생의 생동감을 더합니다. '소국'은 고등학교 시절 그림을 시작하며 가장 많이 그렸던 꽃 중 하나로, 나의 청춘과 행복, 그리고 인생 그 자체를 상징합니다. 소국의 중앙부는 원형 패턴의 다양한 컬러로 표현되어 있는데, 이는 소국의 시각적 표현임과 동시에 나의 다양한 감정을 상징합니다.

비단 호작도 민간의 길흉화복을 좌우하는 서낭신이 까치를 시켜 호랑이에게 신탁을 전달한다는 맥락으로 호랑이, 소나무, 까치 세 가지 영물을 합쳐 길상과 벽사의 기능을 가진 ‘호작도’의 민화 채색 위에 초록빛 영롱한 빛깔의 비단벌레 날개를 오브제로 활용한 작품. Materials: 순지, 분채, 비단벌레 날개

한눈에 들어오는 것은 하나의 거대한 초록 원이지만, 가까이 다가갈수록 화면은 이름 붙이기 어려운 숲의 표면으로 변한다. 재료가 두텁게 쌓인 나무 패널은 잎과 이끼, 젖은 흙을 동시에 떠올리게 하는 거친 피부를 만들고, 그 위를 덮은 초록과 금빛의 안료는 미세한 결을 따라 촘촘히 스며들어 있다. 단일한 색처럼 보이던 초록은 시선이 머무는 자리마다 다른 온도와 농도를 드러내며, 오래 습기를 머금은 숲의 바닥처럼 깊고 눅진한 기운을 풍긴다. 원형의 화면은 숲의 한 조각을 잘라낸 단면 같기도 하고, 머리 위로 올려다본 나무들의 천장을 응축해 둔 창처럼 보이기도 한다. 뚜렷한 나무나 길 하나 보이지 않지만, 표면의 요철과 입자의 흐름을 따라가다 보면 시선은 자연스럽게 안쪽으로 빨려 들어간다. 초록의 농도가 짙어지는 부분과 금빛이 번지는 부분이 교차하며, 빛이 스며드는 자리와 그늘이 머무는 자리가 번갈아 나타나는 리듬을 만든다. 이 작품에서의 빛은 번쩍이며 튀어나오기보다, 표면 아래에서 서서히 배어 나오는 존재에 가깝다. 정면에서 볼 때와 비스듬히 스쳐 지나갈 때의 인상이 전혀 달라, 관람자는 한 지점에 고정되기보다 몸을 조금씩 움직이며 화면을 읽어 나가게 된다. 그 움직임 속에서 평면처럼 보이던 초록의 원은 점차 소리 없는 숲의 공간으로 열리고, 눈앞의 색을 따라가다 보면 어느새 마음속 깊은 곳에 남아 있던 고요와 그리움의 결이 함께 떠오른다. 이끼가 천천히 자라며 표면을 덮어 가듯, 이 원형의 초록은 관람자의 시야와 시간 위로 서서히 번져 나간다. 특별한 사건이나 서사가 없는 이 숲 앞에서, 우리는 다만 빛과 색의 숨결을 따라 호흡을 고르게 하며, 자신 안에 잠들어 있던 가장 조용한 풍경 하나를 천천히 떠올려 보게 된다.
