Instead, he’s holding onto the ropes of a swing, pushing children higher into the air. This piece is not merely a depiction of an injured athlete in an everyday moment. It’s a symbolic reflection of the weight Ryu carries not just as a player but as a father and a person navigating life beyond the mound. The uncertainty of his career due to injury, the sting of losses, the grueling road to recovery these are all battles of their own. But he continues to fight. Even when he is unable to stand on the mound, Ryu Hyun-jin’s battle continues through the pain of injury, the long road of rehabilitation, and the quiet strength of fatherhood.
