‘Fly’ 46x38cm Acrylic on canvas 2025 오리는 본래 하늘을 나는 새지만, 사람의 도움을 받아 날고있다.자유와 독립성의 상징인 새가 오히려 타인의 힘을 빌려 나는 모습으로, 누군가의 도움을 받아야만 자유로울 수 있는 역설적인 상황을 표현하였고, 우리도 때때로 혼자만의 힘이 아닌 누군가의 도움이나 관계 속에서 더 멀리 나아갈 수 있다는 의미를 담아보았다.

홀리데이 마카 드로잉 2023, 종이 위 마카, 28x21cm 🇮🇹 같은 언어를 쓰는 이 나라에서도 나는 낯설고 서툴렀고, 쉽게 사람들에게 지치고 이 사회가 내겐 버거워 알아들을 수 없는 언어를 쓰는 나라로 회피성 도피를 갔다. 정말 ‘외국인’이 맞기에 내 정체성에 의심을 할 필요도 없었고 서툴러도 나는 이방인이니까 이해가 되는 이 타지가 오히려 편안했다. 늘 긴장상태에서 어깨를 움추리고 손에 힘을 주며 지냈던 오랜 세월, 내가 살고 있는 이 나라 이태리에서 그나마 호흡을 편하게 할 수 있었다. 가톨릭 국가라 그런지 휴일이 많아서 그 때마다 시골집으로 휴가를 갔었다. 이태리어 하나 못했던 때부터 지금까지 변함없이 반겨주고 갈때마다 맛있는 요리가 차려져 있는 그곳에서 배가 부른 상태로 노곤하게 지낸다. 자동차 소리 하나 나지 않는 풍경을 바라보며 집 안의 물건 하나하나를 관찰한다. 주말이 되면 차 타고 근교 여행을 가는데 아무것도 안사고 아무것도 안 해도 풍족한 기분이다. 긴 휴일이 생길 때마다 마카를 색깔별로 들고 가서 하얀 레이스가 올려진 탁자에 스케치북을 두고 내가 관찰한 것들, 마음에 들었던 표지판이나 풍경, 유난히 맛있었던 음식을 그린다. 내 많은 작업들 중에서 홀리데이 마카 드로잉은 나의 여름휴가, 추수감사절, 겨울휴가때의 기쁨 그 자체를 남긴 기록들이다. #daf

삼삼춘몽 (滲參春夢) 滲 : 스며들 삼 參 : 참여할 참. 석 삼 春 : 봄 춘 夢 : 꿈 몽 제1의 뜻은 ‘서른 세살 나의 꿈 같은 봄’ 이다. 허나 음운은 ‘삼삼’이나 그 뜻은 ‘내 삶에 스며 들고 내가 나와 깊이 관계하여 꿈같은 봄들이 나에게 영위되고 있음’을 뜻한다. 서른 초반, 마음의 방향을 잡지 못하고 중심을 잃으며 방황하던 그 시절을 되돌아보면, 엄마와 작가 사이에서 내 삶의 목적을 찾기 위해 헤매던 나날들 이었다. 그러나 서른 셋의 봄, 나는 나를 마주 하듯 그렇게 그림을 다시 마주했다. 내가 기억하는 서른 셋의 봄은 찬란한 아름다움과 진한 향기가 가득한 날들 이었다. 매년 반복되어 특별하지 않을 법한 것들이 나에게는 마치 처음처럼 신비롭고 특별하게 다가왔다. 햇살은 유난히도 따스했고,바람은 속삭이듯 더 부드러웠다. 나무들은 푸르른 생기를 뽐내며 새싹을 틔웠고, 꽃들은 저마다의 색과 향기로 봄을 찬미했다. 모든 것이 마치 내 삶의 첫 봄을 맞이하는 것처럼, 생생하게, 새롭게, 그리고 감동적으로 다가왔다. 그 봄날들 속에서 나는 비로소 내면 깊숙이 숨겨진 열망을 발견했다. 캔버스에 담긴 색채와 형상은 내 영혼의 울림이었고, 붓질 하나하나가 나의 감정과 꿈을 표현하는 순간이었다. 서른 셋의 봄은 그렇게 내게 새로운 시작과 깨달음의 시간이었고, 잃어버린 중심을 되찾는 계기가 되었다. 그 봄은 단순한 계절의 변화가 아닌, 내 삶의 전환점이자 예술가로서의 새로운 출발점이었다. 찬란한 봄날의 기억들은 내 작품 속에 영원히 살아 숨 쉬며, 나를 계속 앞으로 나아가게 하는 힘이 되었다. 마치 내 삶의 첫 봄인것 처럼…

This is not the image of Ryu Hyun-jin standing tall on the mound, ready to unleash a pitch with all his might. Instead, the painting places him somewhere unexpected at a playground where children run and play. But if you look closely, you’ll see that this, too, is a kind of playing field for him. His arm is wrapped in bandages, his white uniform stained with dirt and sweat visible traces of injury and rehabilitation. Yet, in his hand, he isn’t gripping a baseball. Instead, he’s holding onto the ropes of a swing, pushing children higher into the air. This piece is not merely a depiction of an injured athlete in an everyday moment. It’s a symbolic reflection of the weight Ryu carries not just as a player but as a father and a person navigating life beyond the mound. The uncertainty of his career due to injury, the sting of losses, the grueling road to recovery these are all battles of their own. But he continues to fight. Just as he pushes the swing with unwavering strength, he is pushing himself toward the mound once again. Baseball isn’t a sport of constant victories. Every player faces losses, setbacks, and injuries, but the true essence of the game and of sportsmanship is in overcoming those obstacles. Ryu’s worn uniform, his bandaged arm, and the dirt on his clothes are not mere details; they are marks of resilience, of the struggle to rise again. He is still fighting not just for another win, not just for his family, but for himself. His rehabilitation is more than a recovery process; it is a testament to perseverance, a refusal to let defeat define him. And we, as spectators, await the day he steps back onto the mound, ready to throw once more. The Unyielding Game transcends the simple notion of winning and losing. It delivers a deeper message that in both sports and life, true victory is not just about the final outcome, but about the journey and the mindset along the way. In competitive sports, winning is often the ultimate goal. But for an athlete facing injuries and adversity, what truly matters is not the scoreboard, but the ability to endure to keep going, to keep fighting. The title, The Unyielding Game, doesn’t imply domination over an opponent. Rather, it speaks to the unwavering spirit that refuses to break, the resilience to stand tall even in the face of defeat. Even when he is unable to stand on the mound, Ryu Hyun-jin’s battle continues through the pain of injury, the long road of rehabilitation, and the quiet strength of fatherhood. This, too, is part of his game. And in this game, he refuses to yield. This concept extends beyond sports; it mirrors a fundamental philosophy of life. We may stumble, we may lose, but true defeat only comes when we surrender. 겨울이 빛나는 소리 (마이산), 정인경, 65.1×50.0cm, Acrylic on Canvas, 2023 마이산은 글자 그대로 봉우리가 말의 귀를 닮았다해서 붙여진 이름이다. 전주에서 멀지 않은 진안에 있는 산이라 어릴때부터 자주 다니곤 해서 예전에는 잘 몰랐는데, 이제야 여러 산을 다니다보니 마이산이 얼마나 진귀하고 경이로운 풍경인지 새삼 볼때마다 놀란다. 마이산은 커다란 귀를 가졌으니 오랜 세월 그 자리에서 계절이 오고가는 소리를 들었을 것이다. 그리고 지금은 귓가에 살포시 내린 눈으로부터 겨울이 빛나는 소리를 듣고 있을 것이고.

깨알이가 숲에 누워 숨을 뿜어내고 있다. 숲의 살리기위해 내쉬는 숨은 마치 생명의 빛과 같다. 우리가 자연이고 자연은 우리이다. 그러니 푸른 새숨 드나들게 가만히 있어 다오. #그린피스공모전
