The helmet represents a self whose identity has blurred; the melting clock symbolizes the pressure of time and the feeling of shaving oneself down; the severed heart-wire and eyeballs imply emotional disconnection and a self constantly under surveillance; the smiling flowers express forced positivity and artificial beauty; and the explosive colors reveal the overflow of tangled emotions. While trying to meet the expectations of being “pretty” — smiling, pretending to be fine, constantly fixing and correcting oneself — the emotions keep piling up and twisting.
