어느 책에서 ‘새로움은 사유하고 실천하는 이들에게만 주어지는 선물 같은 능력’이라 했다. 새롭기 위해 새로움을 추구하는 것은 얕은 의욕이다. 이 세계의 이치를 알아감으로써 자신의 것이 자연스럽게 새로워지는 것이 진정한 새로움의 모습이다. 그저 내가 깨달아감에 몰입하자. 변화는 그 과정의 부차적인 결과일 뿐이어야 한다. 자신을 붙들고 있는 것은 기능과 도구의 부족이 아니라 이끼마냥 뇌수구에마저 뿌리내린, 옳은 고집이라 우기는 ‘관습’과 사랑이라 자처하는 ‘집착’과 안정이라 보장하는 ‘사육’이라.

누구도 이 땅의 정수(精髓)를 명확히 알아낼 수 없다. 그것을 파악하는 가장 쉬운 방법은 접근성이 가장 좋은 자신을 관찰하고 탐구하는 것. 나의 핵심으로 걸어내려 가자. 깊숙하여 빛들지 않은, 발굴되지 않은 곳으로, 나 그리고 우리의 맹아를 찾아. 그것이 곧 자유와 진리, 새로움을 향한 여정이리라. 어린 크리슈나의 입 안에 있던 우주처럼 결국 자신을 충분히 모험하고 체험하는 것이 모든 것을 아는 시작점이다. 나는 우주의 미니어처다.

A book once said, “Newness is a gift-like ability granted only to those who think and practice.” Pursuing newness for superficial newness is a shallow ambition. True newness is when one’s own things naturally become new through understanding the ways of this world. Let’s simply immerse ourselves in our own enlightenment. Change should be merely a secondary consequence of that process. What holds us back is not a lack of function and tools, but rather the stubbornness we insist that is righteous, the obsession we call love, and the domestication we promise as stability, rooted even in our brains like moss.

No one can truly grasp the essence of this land. The easiest way to grasp it is to observe and explore oneself, the most accessible part. Let’s walk down to selves’ core. To the depths, no light, unexplored, to find the seed of oneself and ourselves. That is the journey toward freedom, truth, and newness. Like the universe within the mouth of the infant Krishna, fully venturing and experiencing oneself is the starting point of all knowledge. Oneself is miniature of the universe.
